It's Friday! Friday, Friday, Friday is my favorite, Friday is my favorite, Friday day is my favorite day! (You were supposed to sing that to yourself. :) You made it 9 whole days! I am so VERY proud of you! Now it's time for you to enjoy a well-deserved break! I sure am going to miss you, even if we've just been communicating through the computer for the past 9 days. It will be quite lonely for me. No more entertaining videos. However, I have a special gift for you...today's lesson is optional! :) Before you shut off your computer and run for the hills, check out these videos and pictures of your classmates.

1. Watch this video.
2. If you have a printer print these fun rainforest activity pages to complete. Again, this is optional!

3. If you haven't emailed me pictures of ALL pages of your rainforest flipbook please do that at some point today. That is a grade!

Have a fabulous spring break!! We will be in touch.

We are moving right along. Today will be a great day! You are awesome! Enjoy these videos and pictures from your classmates first!

1. First, watch this video. I am reading the book Rainforest by Helen Cowcher. (Apparently my husband, who was my videographer, is a heavy breather. Try your best to ignore that.)
2. Next, click the link below to take the electricity and magnetism vocabulary quiz. It is multiple choice so choose the answer that best completes the sentence. Each question only has one correct answer. You will only be able to take the quiz once. As soon as you submit your quiz, you will see your grade. Do your best!

We will come back tomorrow to finish out our week. Now go play outside, play a game with your family, write a family member, classmate, or neighbor a note and mail it to them, or read a book!

Hey, hey! You've got this! Remember, if you do not have a printer at home, do not panic. You do not have to print out any of these pages in order for you to complete the work. You can just get a sheet of notebook paper and write your answers down. You do not have to copy each sentence, just simply write your answer! Before you begin your work for today enjoy these videos and pictures from your classmates.

1. First, watch this video. We are going to check your answers for "Scientists and Inventors" and "Tropical Rain Forests of the World, Where Are You?".
2. **Read all of this information before clicking on anything! Complete the rainforest flipbook by reading through these notes. All you will need for this activity is 2 sheets of copy paper or white construction paper, a stapler, and coloring supplies.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1KzaH0FUZgedgnrUwNoL34jTVP3Yif_ff21ixPBnYqkM/edit?usp=sharing

Use this PowerPoint as a guide to help you with drawing each animal or plant onto your flipbook.

Watch this video for directions on how to fold a flipbook.

*Your writing will go under each flap and drawings will go on top of each flap.

Use these examples to help you:

This is a grade. Please click this link to see the rubric on how you will be graded. When you have double checked your work take a picture of each page of your flipbook and submit it to me in ONE email. I will post your grade on NetClassroom ASAP.

We will come back tomorrow to take the electricity vocabulary quiz. Now is your chance to play a couple more rounds of Quizlet! Now go play outside, play a game with your family, cook something new, or read a book!

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Welcome back to day 6 of distance learning! Wow, look at you! Keep up the good work! Remember, if you do not have a printer at home, do not panic. You do not have to print out any of these pages in order for you to complete the work. You can just get a sheet of notebook paper and write your answers down. You do not have to copy each sentence, just simply write your answer! Enjoy these videos and pictures from your classmates first!

1. Watch this video.
2. Clean out the Science section of your binder...remember this is everything behind the Magnetism and Electricity green cover sheet (DO NOT TAKE OUR YOUR RAINFOREST ANIMAL PROJECT SHEET). Remember to staple (or paperclip) all of those things together and put them wherever you put the previous ones (just please don't tell your hardworking teacher that you've thrown any of them away :)). We are moving on today to a new unit...Biomes (bi-oms). We will be focusing on the rainforest for the rest of this week!

Originally I was going to attach the new cover sheet, but with my injury I was unable to get to the school to scan it in. If you want/need to have a cover sheet for this unit you can create your own. This is not necessary though. You don't HAVE to have a cover sheet for this unit. The title of this unit is "Biomes".

3. Complete the "Scientists and Inventors" reading comprehension sheet. Remember to read the questions before you read the paragraphs. This will help you to know what to look for as you are reading. You can write your answers on a sheet of paper if you don't have a printer. We will check these answers together tomorrow.

4. Complete the "Tropical Rainforests of the World" sheet (it is two sided). You will need to print it out. If you don't have a printer don't worry about the map portion of this assignment, but you should still be able to complete the questions by looking at the map on your computer. If that is all too difficult, just skip this activity for now. There isn't any reason to stress. :) We will check our answers together tomorrow.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YbjAKXZAfMdSQyWgm3JJjvIZZshEhJQD/view?usp=sharing

4. Watch this video. It is called Totally Tropical Rainforest and it is a great introduction to our unit.
https://youtu.be/Pds-tQgAux0

Don't forget about your rainforest animal project. I don't have a due date assigned (yet), but if you find yourself needing to fill some time, you could begin working on your research. Remember you have already been given the instructions and they should be in your binder. Make sure they weren't put in the Science section of your binder and now cleaned out. (YIKES!)

We will come back tomorrow to begin our study on the rainforest. Now go play outside, play a game with your family, cook something new, or read a book!

Welcome to our second week of distance learning! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I am so proud of each you and how hard you are working! Keep it up! Remember, if you do not have a printer at home, do not panic. You do not have to print out any of these pages in order for you to complete the work. You can just get a sheet of notebook paper and write your answers down. You do not have to copy each sentence, just simply write your answer! Before you begin your work today please enjoy these videos from your classmates!

1. Watch this video. We are going to check the answers to Friday's crossword puzzle first.
2. Watch Magic School Bus Gets Charged. If you have a Netflix account you can watch it there, it is Season 4 Episode 9. If you don't have a Netflix account you can click on this link to watch it. Just a warning this video isn't perfect, but it gets the message across. You will see that the introduction words are backwards, but it doesn't affect the content.

Click on the link to download the viewing guide. Fill in the answers as you watch the video. We will come back together tomorrow to check the answers.

We will come back tomorrow to check our answers for the Magic School Bus viewing guide! Now go play outside, play a game with your family, cook something new, build something, or read a book!

Friday, March 20, 2020

It's Friday! Friday, Friday, Friday is my favorite, Friday is my favorite, Friday day is my favorite day! (You were supposed to sing that to yourself. :) Welcome back! Today is your last day of virtual class for this week. Thank you for sticking with me. I hope you have enjoyed this experience just as much as I have! Hopefully next week it will be a breeze for you since you've had 4 days of practice now.

Lets start our class off with some awesome videos from your classmates. (If your video isn't on the blog today, be on the lookout, it will be on here next week!!)

1. Watch this video to get the scoop. Today's video has a special guest.

2. I really wanted you to watch another Animated Hero Classic about Thomas Edison, but technology can be frustrating at times...so you get a little tiny break today. No video. I couldn't find it on YouTube or Discovery Education. However, when we come back together, if we get a chance, we can watch it at school because I do have a personal copy. :)

3. Complete the "Learning Power Crossword Puzzle". We will come back together on Monday to check our answers.

Be sure you are keeping all of your papers or sheets of notebook paper in the Science section of your binder. It is important that you have them labeled so that you can refer back to them if necessary. Organization is key while you are learning from a distance! Be prepared because you will have some grades next week. One of them will be your magnetism and electricity vocabulary quiz on Thursday so study up. :)

Have a fabulous weekend and I'll see you online on Monday!

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Welcome back to class! First we will check over our answers for the "Static and Current Electricity" reading comprehension sheet and then we will check "Louie's Scramble". Today we will be talking about the invention of the telephone along with the well-liked inventor, Alexander Graham Bell.

1. First, watch this video so you can get the scoop.
https://youtu.be/zkWOC_Ez85U

You get real life in this video. Mrs. Hollingsworth messed up, but I didn't want to have to retake my video again. I couldn't read the handwriting on my answer sheet. The conductor is not a penny, but a PENCIL! I told you I would get back with you on that. :) Also, why did I call it "Louie's Scramble" when it so clearly says "Louie's Scrabble" at the top of the page?! Oh my!

2. Next, click the first link to get a fill-in-the-blank form for the telephone notes. Click the second link if you want the blanks already filled in for you. Just please make sure you read them! Be sure this paper gets put in the Science section of your binder.

3. Finally, click the first link to watch the video about Alexander Graham Bell. Click the second link to get the paper (or just use a sheet of notebook paper) to write down at least 10 interesting facts you came up with about Alexander Graham Bell during the video.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LNuHIwtOYWpNA4cd29sYuxPl5QQSyXrn/view?usp=sharing

4. For fun (not a necessity), you could print out this Alexander Graham Bell packet to color and solve all of the fun puzzles.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IjCJsvjYXWZ7DvhvtK6krdaPBR1KTLKy/view?usp=sharing

Challenge: with your parent's permission take a video of yourself doing something fun...show me your pet, show me a drawing you've done recently, show me a trick on your trampoline, show me how you skateboard, roller blade, ride your bike, hoverboard, etc. I want to see you in action! Once you've created your video have your parent email it to me. I may just have a special something up my sleeve for Friday. See you all back here tomorrow!
